DISCRIMINATION

Being the son of immigrant parents is not easy, if I begin to remember my childhood, there were many moments when my parents had to face some kind of discrimination. It was something that I did not understand, people made inappropriate comments or even tried to be funny with some racist jokes. They even made me feel ashamed of where I was from, now I know that was ridiculous because no one should feel ashamed of where they are. Once I was at the bookstore, and there was a line to buy books, my mom and I were waiting for our turn but we got distracted and our number went by, and we noticed, and we say to the cashier, but then a man starts yelling at him. My mom tells him that we were there before and that only one number had passed, and he says that things here work differently than where we were, and then he continues to yell at us. I was very scared and even more surprised that no one had said anything. I know that some people may be afraid to go into it, but now that I am older I know that I would say something because I am not going to let anyone be treated like that. (18 minutes)
